Why can't you just ignore it? I ignore LaunchPad completely. You could move the app into a Folder of things you don't want to see. There has to be more than just the iPhone Mirroring that you can't stand to see. Just drag them together in one folder you bury at the far end of the LaunchPad. You could name it, "there be dragons," or some such.

We aren't the Apple Genies. If you want a feature from Apple, you'd have to ask them.

All we can offer is workarounds.

and the launchpad seems quite convenient to me,

Well, there might be many others who find iPhone Mirroring quite convenient to them.

As Mick and Keith might say, you can't always get what you want. But, if you try…

You don't have or want an iPhone but, rather ironically, seem to use Launchpad... which was introduced to the Mac a few years back to imitate how apps appear... on the iPhone.

Old mac users never use Launchpad.

As already suggested, you can:

1 just ignore any apps you don't use

2 organize the icons in Launchpad so that these apps appear on a second or third screen that you never see

3 use other methods to launch apps - many people use the Dock, where you just put the apps you want. I prefer Spotlight: press command-space, type two or three letters and press enter. You can use Finder, and even... Terminal :-)
