Is there a way to get movie count back on my Apple TV?

Is there a way I can get my movie count back on my Apple TV? I used to have a counter that showed all the movies I purchased in my library.

I know there is an issue with Apple and licensing and have also heard they took the counter away because they do not want the purchaser to know the movie they bought is no longer licensed by Apple.

So technically you are renting the movie instead of owning it.

I had a massive library and would love to see if in fact they have removed some movies from my library.

Do you have a Apple TV and have you ever purchased a movie?

Yes and many times. My personal situation doesn’t matter though. It is about your question here.

In the past when you went to movies it would show you the amount of movies you have purchased on the Apple TV... that has since been removed

As a fellow end-user, I can’t change what Apple has decided to do with their software.

The old Movies app has been retired for a long time now (tvOS 17.2, December 2023).

I don't understand why your talking about playlists on the Mac or PC

You wanted the number of purchased titles in your library to show, and this is the only way that I know of how to show that number now. Just what you asked for. As the library is the same across all your compatible devices, a computer is as good as any other device for this purpose.

If you would like for Apple to change their software for the Apple TV box, to show more or different metrics, then you can let them know your wishes through the product feedback form: Feedback - Apple TV - Apple

On computers (Mac or PC), the Apple TV app will list the totals for each view.

It helps for this to create a Smart Playlist with the rule to include media that has Purchased = true, with live updating, to have it all in one place, regardless of other media properties. Afterwards, you can give the playlist a logical name and add a description, so you won’t have to wonder in 6 months what this playlist is about.

So I did what you said to do in the Apple TV app on the computer

It is only listing the following so far

But I am also seeing the following

I will stay logged in for the day on my computer to see if my list updates... otherwise I will go through my receipts to see what is missing in my library.

Thank you for this work around... I will keep you posted to see if it updated

I appreciate all your help but I do not understand where I am creating this playlist?

I do not download any of my movies I have purchased... I stream all my movies from where ever Apple stores them. I do not have the storage space to store all my movies purchased I have over 800 movies if not more and those file sizes are massive.

I know how to make playlists I do it all the time with my music but those files are much smaller and I can store them locally.
