Bluetooth won't turn on

iMac from 2017 with up to date Ventura 13.7.2

Bluetooth randomly turned itself off. Can switch it back on in settings (kind of in name only since it doesn't actually turn on) but not on menu bar -- I can't even switch it on there. The icon is grey and crossed out. In settings, Bluetooth finds no devices. The only thing it normally runs is the optical Apple mouse (which is fully charged). I've read as many community posts as I can find (although most are out of date to my OS) as well as some Reddit posts and have tried restarting multiple times, have made sure my Wifi is not interfering, etc. Does anyone have a recent solution or do I have to wait for another OS update and hope that it fixes the problem? I guess I'm lucky to need it for the optical mouse but can't pair it with a speaker or headphones or earbuds.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.3

I suggest starting with verifying that there are no hardware issues with your Mac by running the Apple Diagnostics.

Also, please provide a screenshot of System Information > Hardware > Bluetooth. Specifically, the "Bluetooth Controller" section.

Please post back your results.
