Apple watch running app stopped announcing mileage

I've worked with four different Apple technicians and no one so far has been able to get the running app to consistently work. It announces walking miles, but running miles, it doesn't work 90% of the time. Occasionally it will announce miles. I've used this app for over 5 years. This just started happening with the last release/fix. Why can't they get this figured out?
