Stolen Device Protection, "Home" Location error.

Early this evening, I tried to sign in to LifeLock on my SE2020 Gen2, iOS 18.2.1.

SIM Protection and Number Lock are both Enabled through my provider.

It did not recognize my fingerprint despite my having four prints saved. It says "Stolen Device Protection" has been activated because my phone is at an unrecognized location, and I have to wait for a 1-hour security delay to end before I can make changes. What puzzles me is that I am at home and have been here all day. (it's the same address I've had since I got the phone several years ago.) And, my prints have not changed, (fingers are dry and have no injuries.) Location services are ON. Why is my Home not recognized?

Locked iPhone:

A. Go Here: If you forgot your iPhone passcode or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support

B. Avoid Being Locked Out any Longer

You need to wait it out. Do as it says and wait 1 hour. If you attempt tis incorrectly too many times, then you may be locked out for good. Do, just let the phone site aside, and do not touch it an hour.

Thank you. I waited it out and am back in; things appear to be ok... ... for now. What worries me is why the phone incorrectly identified my Home as an unrecognized location, and, what can I do to prevent it from happening again?

Why the Error?:

Find My was probably was enabled intermittently. Or someone else enabled it. Find My cannot be activated on its own. So, you may want to secire your account and device, just to be safe from intruders…

I. Securing your Info:

Having tapped something, you've interacted with this. As a result of interacting with this, your device is more vulnerable. So, secure your device, and accounts.

II. Securing your iPhone:

Reset your New iPhone to Factory Settings:

Set Up this Up Anew:

Being Security & Privacy is of high-concern here, your best bet is to set this iPhone up anew, as if you were to sell it: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade in your Mac - Apple Support

II. Securing your Accounts:

If concerned for device access, then (A)verify your devices, then (B)secure your account:

A. Verify your Devices:

Verify that all devices are logged in to your account, by using this link: Check your Apple ID Device List to See where you're Signed in - Apple Support

then...

B. Modify your Credentials:

Having been stollen, someone lily has your credentials. So, by all means, modifying them.

Thank you. I always keep "Find My" on, ever since I left my phone on an Access Services Van a few years ago. The only thing I can think of is my home internet IP location may have changed. (Maybe the server is down for maintenance?)

You are welcome.

Location Error:

If the server is down, then it would not be seen except for the last place it was located by Find My. Your IP Address is where Find My located you. So, if you were using an internal LAN, then that might change a few things. If the utility company is working on items, then things may have changed by mishap on their end.
