Where to buy a build-to-order MacBook?

Is it possible to buy a built-to-order MacBook from a retailer other than the Apple Store?  The Apple Store’s AI chatbot wasted an hour of my time and I don’t want to give them a penny of my money.

Thank you, B&H does provide build-to-order capability. The price is often is a bit lower than Apple, although the wait times are similar to the Apple store.

Also, note that if you use B&H's credit card, they will provide an instant rebate equal to the amount of sales tax that you need to pay.

i have to say, i am just as annoyed by the soldered-on RAM thing. yes, there are gains in space-saving and probably efficiency / heat / power envelope, but it's such a money-grab, when the price difference for extra RAM is WAY more than if you were to buy similarly-spec'd SODIMMs and upgrade yourself (were that still possible). same for iphones and the lack of removable storage... i'm fine with no microsd slot, as long as they charge fairly for the various NAND flash tiers - but they don't. 100 bucks more for storage that would cost maybe a quarter of that, or less?
