Safari Version 17.6 / Monterey 12.7.6 / Mac mini (2018) ?

I'm running Monterey 12.7.6 (final version of Monterey) on a Mac mini (2018). The bundled Safari is Version 15.6.1. Software Update indicates that a Safari Version 17.6 security update is available.

I am a bit reluctant to install the Safari update because when I first installed Monterey 12.7.6, I also installed the Safari 17.6. This led to frequent "beach balling" when using the Safari application.

Is anyone using the combination of Monterey 12.7.6, Safari 17.6, and a Mac mini (2018) without such issues?

I'm running Lightroom V6.14 (desktop) application which is the last version that didn't require a monthly subscription. It works with Monterey but not with Ventura, etc.

Monterey also supports Universal Control which allows the keyboard and mouse (and monitor in my case) to be shared between the Mac mini (2018) and the M2 Mac mini (2023).

FYI, I could be mistaken, but I believe that the activation and installer code for Lightroom 6.14 is 32-bit and won't run on Monterey. Presumably you used to run a pre-Catalina version of macOS, and upgraded it "in place", but if you ever have to do a "clean reinstall", Lightroom 6.14 will break.

Thanks for the reminder. It is possible to restore a working version of Lightroom V6.14 (on Monterey) using Time Machine.

It took a fair amount of effort to recover Monterey and Lightroom but I think it's been worthwhile. I use Lightroom to edit RAW files from a Canon R5 camera (converted to DNG for import to LR) when I want to get the best editing results.

You can definitely get good results editing with the Photos application (in Sequoia) but the program lacks many features available even in this old version of Lightroom. Hopefully, Photos will gain some of the Pixelmator features over time.
