Searching Mail results in message “Some results may not appear…”

Starting with the latest iOS I am unable to search my mail folders for past emails. I get a message saying “Some Results May Not Appear”. I have had my phone locked charging and connected to the internet and still cannot search messages.

This typically indicates that the mail app is still indexing your content in the background. Large email accounts with lots of folders and messages take time to index. There are a few things you can do to speed up the process:

  1. Switch to WiFi for a faster connection
  2. Plug in your iPhone to a charger, lock it, and connect to WiFi.

hope this is helpful.

I've had the same problem for weeks now - and every night my phone is locked and connected to a fast wifi network (>200Mbps).

My wife was travelling yesterday and couldn't access the email with her ticket and reservation details for the same reason.

Apple really need to fix this - their lack of acknowledgement is astounding.

They should offer options to:

  • "force update/sync now" - am at home today, wouldn't it be great to just finish the update this afternoon...?!
  • allow users to use mobile data if they want to

Apple's participation in this forum is largely limited to making sure everyone behaves. So, if you are expecting to see an acknowledgment here, know now that that is not going to happen.

You can let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

in this case neither of your suggestions work. That has been proven by me and several in this and other chats who’ve tried it without success. This IS a problem with the update. It doesn’t just stop working after the update for no reason, or oops even though you didn’t change anything suddenly your email file is to big. Doesn’t work that way. Those are BS answers to buy time to try to figure out what happened with the update and how you can stealthily release a fix. I used to do support for a company years ago. You’re welcome.
