Endless

iCloud login loop on Windows 11

So many people have this issues on Win 11

after one of the more recent updates! Thank you!

THIS WORKED!!!

I think the crucial step was to install that

legacy installer iCloudSetup

v7.21.0.23 [Sep 2020] - then let it

sync - and only then simply install the latest iCloud via the

Microsoft Store app on top.

Thank you so much!

iCloud

on Windows enabled for only Calendar and Contacts

Closing...

Opened a ticket with MicroSquish.....and

apparently they have an unreleased version of iCloud which addresses

issues interfacing iCloud on Windows w/ Outlook......

Would be NICE if they shared it!!!

I

seem to have failed to keep at least two other relevant posts.

One

was ensuring that some Windows feature was always running in the

background.

Two

was running iCloud for the first time as an administrator.

are all people who have contributed to this set of posts since

Well, at last,

iCloud seems to be working again on my W11 laptop.

On Sunday the 9th

of Feb it seemed to install and it was left running

overnight but on Monday the folder was empty.

So I thought I would

try installing a non-Microsoft shop version first as some people seem

to have found helpful.

Looking for one I

came across www.zdnet.com dated

Feb. 9, 2024. I failed to notice the year !

Anyway, I thought I

would give it another go yesterday 2025-02-10 Mo.

I deleted iCloud

Drive and emptied the Recycle Bin, just in case Apple was too clever

by half.

I uninstalled iCloud

and iCloud Outlook having first, for Advanced options of iCloud set

“Let this app run in background Always”.

I went to Microsoft

Store, it remembered that I had recently looked for apple icloud.

I clicked on Get

but, after it has presumably been downloaded, did NOT click on Open.

Instead I restarted

the laptop.

After signing in

again, I pressed the Windows key and typed iCloud.

From there you can

run as administator which I did.

Then it tried to

login to Apple and I typed my Apple ID email and password.

When I sign in to my

Apple Account on the web, my email address, which my firefox browser

remembers, is in mixed case, which I am sure is how I originally

typed it. Initials and first letter of surname in capitals the rest

in lower case.

However on my iPhone

and iPad in Settings, Apple Account, it is shown all in lower case.

So for this login I

typed it all in lower case. Some people seemed to have found this

case sensitive.

I rather doubt that.

Then it asked my

iPhone for permission with a six digit number to type in.

After that it seemed

to work perfectly well and I left it for a few hours that evening.

Then I looked at the

properties of iCloud Drive and happily it was no longer zero !!!

I have left it on

for more hours since then and it seems to be ok.

It has the same

size as my W10 laptop (395 MB), but on the W11 less size on disk.

Same number of Files

and Folders.

I suppose it does not bother to download

everything, but I have no idea what rules it follows.

Anyway it is looking

good, hurrah, hurrah !
