How do I remove Safari Favorites in Settings on iMac?

A number /3-6/ of Favourites are loaded when I log in to Safari. I'd like to remove them in Settings...where?

further—You can delete bookmarks that you no longer need. Go to the Safari app on your Mac. in the toolbar, then click Bookmarks. Control-click the bookmark, then choose Delete.

You can try quitting Safari and relaunch it holding the Shift key down and compare your results.
