4000 US reseller flex policy how to unlock phone

Bought an “ unlocked” iPhone from Target. Says. 4000 US reseller flex policy. How can I unlock it?

I could be wrong, but I believe "reseller flex [lock]" means the phone will lock itself to the first carrier with whom you use it. If you want an unlocked phone, return this one to Target, and buy directly from Apple. Avoid selecting any of the carrier financing options, and make sure the order page explicitly says words to the effect "And your new iPhone will be unlocked."

You didn’t buy an unlocked iPhone.


This iPhone will carrier-lock to the first US carrier used, and only a US carrier can be used with it.


Return it. Or lock it to a US carrier, and then complete their unlock requirements.
