iPhone 15 Plus not compatible Hyundai Smart Key2

So I am buying this 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited. It comes with an app called "MyHyundai with Bluelink" which offers additional features. One of them is to set up "Smart Key 2", which would allow the owner to leave the key fob at home and operate the vehicle entirely with the app.

I keep seeing a list of non compatible iPhones, iPhone 15 and up are on that list. I have iPhone 15 Plus and Apple Watch Ultra 2, which is also on that list.

I read somewhere that it has something to do with NFC. Well, I am not technically challenged, but why would older iPhones be compatible, and newer models not?

Is there any way to get around that issue? I keep hearing owners telling me they have iPhone 6 and it works for them, but they can't explain why.

I had a Genesis GV70 (until the engine blew up at 850 miles) and you are correct, the digital key isn't compatible with iPhones. It would be up to Hyundai/Kia/Genesis to make their software for this feature compatible with iPhone. Apple has nothing to do with the software the car manufacturer uses for the feature. Whether it has to do with how Apple implements NFC or not, it's still up to the car manufacturer to work this out.

While I had the now bought back Genesis, it really wasn't an issue as far as I was concerned. I could still use the app to unlock or lock my car. I was more than capable of entering the car and pushing the start button to start the car.

Thank you. I will try to get to those app developers, unfortunately they are not very responsive. But as said, I can also lock, unlock, start etc. my vehicle with the app. So it is not too bad, I am just a stubborn person and expect everything to work as it should.

Good luck getting ANYONE to listen to you at Hyundai. When my Genesis engine blew up, even though it was their fault the engine blew up, getting anyone there to talk to me was beyond impossible. It took a full 6 months to get them to buy the car back. It was pure torture. I reported an issue with the app on my car. I never got a response from anyone about it. So, I wish you success, but I wouldn't hold much hope here.

I've got the same issue. In an ioniq 6 limited with an iPhone 15 pro max. Did you ever find a workaround?
