My wife got a new iPhone 16 and now I cannot see her location on Find My Friends. It only shows the location of her iPad no matter what we try we can’t get it to switch. I send her an invitation to share her location on her phone, she accepts and nothing happens. Still can’t see her. She sends me an invitation I accept she can see me. what’s the gig?

See if she is using her old device as the source of her location. If so, she will need to go into the settings on her new iPhone to claim it as her location.

Thanks we did all of that business and couldn’t get it working for days until I figured out she needed to set up a password for her new phone before this would be permitted to function on her new phone. It would be great if Find My Friends instructed that you needed to form an iPhone password before this is enabled. Not everybody likes passwords
Useful to know. Thanks for reporting that. This would be because Find My has information about other users which would be visible to anyone else picking up the phone and having a look. The password requirement is there to protect other's privacy as much as the owner of the iPhone.
