Why is my Magsafe not working with iPhone 16?

Bought a new Magsafe through the Apple online. Tried getting it to work, checking various outlets. Doesn't work for my new iPhone 16 (bought the same day) and my wife's iPhone 16.

I want to return it for a working model.
