Gray lines and flickering screen on MacBook Air M1

Today I noticed gray/black lines all over my screen and the brightness was flickering up and down in 2-3 second intervals. I didn't do anything that could have harm the MacBook, (drop it, hit it etc.) but this suddenly happened. Is this a screen malfunction? I tried to restart the MacBook but it didn't help either. Does anyone know what is going on?
