Will forgetting AirPods Pro disconnect my Apple ID?

I recently lost my AirPods Pro [2nd Generation). They’ve been stolen as their location is moving. Since I likely won’t get them back, I want to forget them from my Bluetooth devices but keep their connection to my Apple ID. I don’t want the thief to connect their Apple ID. Will forgetting the device allow him to do so?
