Is your goal to get a replacement for free from Apple? If so, only if you have purchased an AppleCare+ plan with theft or loss coverage, can you expect to get a replacement for free. Otherwise, the standard AppleCare+ plan or the one-year hardware warranty does not cover a lost device.
