When I zoom in while recording video, the sound is muffled. There's nothing wrong with my microphone. I don't have a problem when I talk to someone on the phone or record audio. When I use 0.5x while recording video, the sound is normal, but as I start to zoom in, my voice becomes muffled. How can I fix that?

I don’t know for certain that Apple can do remote diagnostics, but it’s worth a try.
You need to have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.

Try turning off Stereo Mode when video recording.
Go to Settings > Camera > Record Sound, and then select "Mono".
I tried without a phone case but the problem persists. I'm using the iPhone's own camera app, I'm not using any external microphone, I'm using the original iPhone mic. The sound gets muffled as I zoom in. When I increase the zoom level, the sound becomes more muffled at the same rate.

Are you using a case? Are you using stock built in mics or third party mics and or apps? What iPhone model and iOS version are you using?
When I switch to mono mode, the sound is muffled in the same way, i.e. without zoom
