Years of iCloud Photos and videos GONE

I recently updated my phone and computer to the most recent iOS and just today went to go look for an old photo (I have iCloud for 2tb) and almost 6 years of videos and photos are gone. It isn't hidden, in deleted folder or anything. It is GONE. This needs to be remedied somehow. I should've know better to trust the cloud but years of my life, my history is GONE. Please tell me there is a fix.
