AirPods Pro (Version 6F21) connect to iPhone 13

All was good for over a year, then I let the batteries run down. Once powered back up, my left AirPod connects to my iPhone 13 but the the right will not and the case shows 1% and it's plugged into power. It will show the case is charging then it drops. Tried to forget it and reinstall by pressing the button on the back to get the white light. It connected but still only the left ear. It's like it's not updating. Any suggestions?
