Unable to connect Apple CD player to MacBook Air M3

Trying to hook up my cd/dvd apple player from my iMac (2013) to My MacBook M3 2025 and it keeps saying "USB Accessory needs power"

I have tried using a USB type C adapter; also my Anker docking station (that is powered with power cord and even tried rebooting the MacBook and still the same problem. From searching the web the apple cd player should work on anything from 2008 on??? The MacBook does not even recognize the player in the system preferences.
