How do I protect my iPhone from potential malware after an Instagram hack?

My instagram got hacked a week ago and I got an email from “Meta” asking if I had changed my email. I clicked on the link that said “this wasn’t me” but I realized that the email was likely a fake email. Now I’m worried that someone has access to my phone or things I have inside my phone. What should I do?

No they do not have access to anything inside your phone. If they know your Instagram password, then they could have any data you see when logging into your account. Of course, changing your Instagram password will be necessary.

Clicking a link on a scam email does let the scammer know that you may be susceptible to believe what they say, so it is likely you will get more email scams, but as long as you do not provide any personal information from those emails, you have nothing to worry about.

Thank you so much this makes me feel way better! I have another sort of unrelated question. They now have linked my instagram account to an account they created, and they can essentially log into my profile whenever they want, and I can’t remove them unless I log into the main account which they created. Do you know if there’s any way to fix this, or should I just make a new Instagram altogether?

Are you not able to go the main account and change the password, which would lock them out?
