How to play downloaded DVDs while being able to fast forward and rewind?

I downloaded the DVD to the Pro, and it created files in ascending order, such as VTS_01_1.VOB, many of them. If you select any one of them that chapter opens and plays but you have to watch it in real time as FF and rewind simply return you to the beginning of the chapter.

I am looking for an application where I can simply click on an object and have it open and play through to the end and retain the use of FF and rewind.

What did you do?

If you just copied the folders form the DVD, the yes it is broken up in sections.

You need a ripper app to get entire contents in a single video. If these are comercial Movie DVDs then we cannot help, as that required breaking the copyright protection.

If these are personal family DVDs, then you can use Handbrake to rip them.

It worked! I did download Handbrake. I chose Open Source and browsed to my file, then Start, worked like a champ. Thank you very much!

Handbrake might requite access to the original DVDs to rip them correctly, but you can try it on the folder with the files on the Mac and see if it works.

What I did…

I had several VHS videotapes recorded on a VHS camcorder from the early to mid 90’s. Personal family stuff. I transferred those to DVD in the mid 2000’s. In 2021 I copied them to my Apple MacPro by using an external player and grabbing the objects and dragging them to my desktop. I have had this problem since.
