I tried to sync my iCloud data but then I found I needed to enter my current passcode which I knew, but then it asked me for my previous iPhones 6 digit passcode. I didn’t remember using a 6 digit passcode and now I cannot get past that stage without the code. Is there any way to recover my previous iPhone’s passcode without erasing my iCloud data?

Unfortunately if you don’t know your iPhone’s passcode, you will have no choice but to erase all the data and reset it. If you had a backup beforehand, you’ll be able to restore your data. Without a backup, all your data will be gone.

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

Have any Proof of Purchase?
Unless you have the original packaging and receipt, you may be out of luck. If you do have it, however, then take this to an Apple Store, or an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider)! and they may be able to restore it. The reason for this blockage is all about Security & Privacy.
