What happens if I enter the wrong screen time passcode 11 times on my iPhone X?

I have an iphone X which has a restriction, from the screen time settings I think, preventing me from signing my apple ID out of it. Before I try entering my mother's apple id (since the phone was a 'hand me down'), the phone is on 10 wrong attempts now and I'm wondering what happens once I get an 11th attempt wrong, does it reset the phone to factory mode? And is any of the data of my apple ID fine as long as I'm logged on my new iphone (15, pro) with it?

You're in a tricky spot! If you enter the wrong passcode 11 times, then your iPhone won't automatically reset to factory settings, but it will be disabled. After 10 incorrect attempts, your iPhone will require a connection to iTunes or Finder to restore it. However, if the Erase Data option is enabled in your settings, your phone will erase all data after 10 failed attempts.

As for your Apple ID, your data will remain intact on your new iPhone 15 Pro. Your iCloud backups, purchases, and synced data will still be accessible from your new device.

Wait out the time allotted.

Then, have her reset the passcode. Note that doing so, the iPhone would be reset to Factory Settings.

Hold It Right There!:

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

Being Locked Out...

Have any Proof of Purchase?

Unless you have the original packaging and receipt, you may be out of luck. If you do have it, however, then take this to an Apple Store, or an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider)! and they may be able to restore it. The reason for this blockage is all about Security & Privacy.

Hi,

Firstly thank you for reply it is helpfully informative, however I am confused by what you meant by "Note that doing so, the iPhone would be reset ...".

Does this mean that even if my mum's apple id was the account which set the screen time passcode: the phone resets upon the passcode resetting? Furthermore my mum has told me that she's forgotten passcode and I'm guessing it's her apple id I have to enter (in resetting the screen time passcode, as my account wasn't it).
