Unable to import videos longer than 30 seconds from my iPhone SE

Greetings.

I am constantly frustrated by the impossibility to import any video longer than :30 seconds from my iphone (SE). It just sits and spins... or takes 15+ mins for a 4 min video import. God forbid I try to import multiple videos... it brings my Studio Mac, the "Fastest Computer" in human history to it's knees.

Not even a 4k import - Camera recording in 1080p... this is all I get:

There must be a better solution for photos and video in OSX...

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Richard, thank you.

As it turns out storage space is the culprit, was nearing that 10% range. Fixed, thank you.

Also, I checked photo 'settings' and could find no option for 'Optimize Storage'?

Also, could you give us more information?

What OS are you using?
How much of your storage space free on your internal drive? Is this more than 10% of your total storage space?
Are you using iCloud Photos to synchronize your devices?
Do you have “Optimize Storage” checked in Photos’ Settings
Where does your Photos Library reside-- in the Pictures folder of your internal drive, or on an external drive? or on a network? on iCloud drive?
