How do I search texts in Messages by phone number?

When searching messages, is there a way to search by phone number? I'd like to find all messages by a specific phone number, but every time I search for the number only instances of that number inside of texts returns, not messages by that number. A number could be sending me messages or within group chats, so there may be multiple places messages from a given number reside in the messages app. Is there a check box or setting I'm not clicking to have messages actually search for a phone number?
