Siri near by suggestions based on third party providers without consent

Hi,

I got a new iphone and an App Clip (I think that's what it was called) was added automatically to my home screen.

I was very surprised to see that I got location (!) based advertisement form uber eats without prompting consent. How is it possible that my location is handed to third party services without my consent?

I would like to have an explanation where I agreed to those terms. Furthermore, it was very unclear how to turn this off in the settings. For example since I don't have uber eats installed, it doesn't show up in the Siri notifications pannel. There was a very small option to turn it off directly in the App clip. However, I could not find where I can control this behavior within the Settings to potentially check for any other location leaks.

I find this very concerning and I was very disappointed to find out how loosely Apple is dealing with my privacy.

I was also surprised that this was raised here but quickly swept under the carpet. In case my description was unclear, the screenshot posted in the linked issue are valid.

it isn’t. You’re getting location based suggestions, not ads, for app clips. All processing is on device.

believe it’s under settings - app clips. Otherwise settings - Siri and suggestions. Or, remove the widget that you added from your screen.

there is no privacy issue.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I was in a different country compared to my usual residency and I got suggestions for nearby restaurants powered by uber eats. Therefore, I have a hard time believing that all processing is on device.

Apple intelligence settings have no options for location based services which I think is a flaw.

I understand that this is a community forum and I will probably try to get in touch with apple.

However, I'm curious to learn more here!
