If a preinstalled app on your iPad appears grayed out, it’s often due to a pending update or system issue.

First, check if the app is stuck in “Waiting” mode—go to Settings > General > iPad Storage, delete the app if possible, and reinstall it from the App Store.

It could also be offloaded to save space; tapping the icon should re-download it, or you can turn off offloading via Settings > App Store > Offload Unused Apps.

Another common cause is Screen Time restrictions, so check Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions to ensure the app isn’t being blocked.

If your iPad is installing an iOS update, it may temporarily disable apps—allow the update to finish and then restart your device.

If none of these work, try a force restart or Reset All Settings from Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad to fix lingering software glitches.
