Good advice to contact your local Apple-owned store!
At my larger local (suburban Boston, USA) store, the Genius Bar is not used for computer setup, but only for Hardware issues.
At my store you make an appointment directly with the store staff, specifically for computer setup.
This provides a visit closely focused on getting your computer set up the way you want it to work, with associates with expertise in computer setup, not hardware debugging.
If you have an old computer whose data you want to transfer, bring it with you. They can coach you how to accomplish that as well, and often loan you the cables you need for that one-off transfer.
