How to resolve the issue 'The version of macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled'?

Hello everyone!

Recently, I updated macOS on my MacBook Air M1 to version Sequoia 15.4. And I ran into the issue: "The version of macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled." I have reinstalled it several times, but all attempts have been in vain. I don’t know what to do. I don’t have access to another device to create a bootable USB drive. Is it possible to install previous versions of macOS via Recovery Mode?

What macOS are you currently running?

It is unclear— are you dead in the water?

Can you boot the machine and log into your user account?

A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
