I have previously been able to import W2 from my employer but this year 2024 I get a message "We recommend you check your internet connection and try again. If we still can't get your info, don't worry. We'll help you enter it manually so you can keep working on your taxes.". My internet connection is working well.
In the case of fidelity, when trying to import a screen pops up and then disappears and I am unable to import brokerage info. TurboTax tells me it is an Mac issue.
It is easy to manually enter your W2 info as a workaround, but entering all your Fidelity info, that could be very involved, although it is doable. Perhaps a clue is that you can't seem to import ANYTHING. While your internet connection could be good, other things on your network or computer could interfere. For instance, if you have any network security tools or you changed the settings, or network monitors, or things like other security tools, anti virus, "cleaning" apps, these can all interfere.
This year I was able to import everything from my financial institution and a W2 so I know it is working in some circumstances. I am using TurboTax Home and Small Business (which is one level above Premier) and mine is the desktop version, my tax returns are all stored locally (not on Intuit's servers, not online).
When I first tried to import from my financial institution, it was the same day that they announced year end tax statements were available, but the online TurboTax import connection did not work for another day or two. That was caused by some delay in allowing external imports on the financial institution server.
To import, one usually has to log in with a password or key or two factor to the employer or brokerage account, from inside TurboTax. Everything has to be entered perfectly or it won't work.
You might check the TurboTax user forums to see if any others had this issue and what they did to address it.
