Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard stopped connecting to iMac on macOS Big Sur 11.7.10

I have a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard that I use with a Mac. The Mac has Big Sur version 11.7.10. The keyboard stopped working on 12th April 2025 and now refuses to connect via bluetooth. The error message in the Bluetooth configuration box is "Couldn't connect to t". I have put fully charged rechargeable batteries in the keyboard just in case it was the batteries. It still does not connect. A did get a pop up asking me to enter a number on the bluetooth device, and I typed this number, but it still did not connect.

Hi, I have it working now.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I did the bluetooth pairing again (press button on keypad for 5 seconds, press 'connect' button in bluetooth settings on Mac, wait for number to appear, enter number on ergonomic keypad , hit return, click connect ) and it works now.

Kind Regards

Perhaps contact Microsoft about the possibility of Firmware Update for

your Microsoft branded wireless bluetooth keyboard; might be an idea.

Other than this idea, maybe try to see if some other for Older macOS

might be available, as minor steps could be out there worth a look?

(Just got done and am updating 'unsent reply' saved in browser, now)

A newer revised driver or firmware from Microsoft for their

keyboard could be about the only hope for a software cure.

Idea I didn't have time for, involves Rapid Security Updates for Apple

About Rapid Security Responses for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS - Apple Support

While that's long stretch; and I don't see that happening; at least by me.

[This did not contain older version access.]

While an extensive look-see in SW backlog, further

inside, I found SAME Update for macOS, your Big Sur is:

macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 • macOS Big Sur • 11 Sep 2023

Having spent 'some time' looking through by dates, iDon't

see a Niche update Step; while something may be hidden.

In case anyone is curious and hadn't found this article yet

I'm hoping the thread here has not timed-out (typo fixes)
