Why am I being ask to enter an Upwork username and password after starting up my old MacBook Pro?

I restarted a MacBook Pro that I haven't used in a while and an Upwork login box appears on start-up asking for a username and password. In small text underneath, it says please use Okta credentials to sign in.

I have no clue what Upwork or Okta is and I have never had an Upwork or Okta account.

I have tried my Apple user name and ID but that doesn't work.

I have tried resetting my OS.

I cannot get past this, my MacBook Pro is unusable.

Please help!

That Mac is definitely being managed remotely. How that came to be is anyone's guess.

You are going to need professional, probably hands-on assistance from Apple. Start here: Official Apple Support.

In the meantime consider the possibility, however remote, that someone has hijacked your Apple Account credentials. If you think your Apple Account has been compromised - Apple Support is appropriate in this case. I suspect Apple may direct you to that document, so please review it before contacting them.

Also, be sure to locate that Mac's original dated sales receipt of invoice unequivocally showing you are its owner. You might need it also.

It's like a start-up login so no, I can't get past it. I believe I did a factory reset on it over a year ago. I'm trying to use it again but this popped up. I also did an OS reinstall.

I have owned it from new and I'm the only person that has ever used it. To the best of my knowledge, no one could have installed anything on it.
