You didn't provide any requirements for what "best" means to you. FWIW, I still use the Apple SuperDrives with my various Macs that run anything from High Sierra to Sequoia.
well the driver is generic as in all drives use the same driver, so it's really a matter of which brands you trust in terms of build quality, Samsung makes some one external drives, currently I have an asus one which is also ok lg seem to make some ok ones too
