Recent emojis not working on my iPad after iPadOS 18 update

Just updated to iOS 18 on my iPad after putting it off forever. Now my recent emojis are stuck. It won’t add in ones I just used. Someone suggested turning off stickers in keyboard but it didn’t fix it. This seems to be a common problem that hasn’t been resolved. If anyone has any other suggestions, I’d appreciate it.
