Where did you acquire this app? If you got it from anywhere but the developer's own website, then do not trust it.
Are you sure you are on the official QuickBooks website?
I would expect QuickBooks to be from a recognized Apple developer.
If you know for certain this is a trustworthy app, open the System Settings, then click on Privacy & Security.
Scroll to the bottom of the right pane. At the bottom under the Security subheading, you should find an option to tell the OS the app is okay to use.
It was worth a try, but I wasn't really expecting you to find it there.
The message you're seeing is usually associated with an app that does not have a developer's signature. It was a fair number of major macOS releases back now where if you have such an app, you cannot get it to run no matter what. But it's a bit hard to believe Intuit would release a current app that has not been code-signed.
I tried to download the desktop, online version app to test on my end, but you have to first sign in with an active account to do that.
Well using the information that you provided and with a little more investigation on my part I was able to get a work around and now it is working. It is hard to believe that a current (literally in the past 7 days) app from Intuit is getting flagged by my Mac for malware issues. Thanks very much for your assistance.
Thank you I will give it a try.
Thanks for your response. App was downloaded directly from intuit literally with the guidance of intuit tech support. Very odd indeed.
Kurt,
I tried what you recommended and unfortunately I do not see the option to tell the OS that app is ok. Am I looking in the wrong location?
I you could please post your solution, it would help others who have the same issue, and find this topic looking for a possible answer.
