Battery Drain Issue on iPad Pro M4 (iPadOS 18.3.1)

Hello,

I recently purchased a new iPad Pro and updated it to iPadOS 18.3.1. Since then, I’ve noticed an unusually fast battery drain. Even with very light usage (e.g. browsing or messaging), the battery percentage drops quickly. For example, it dropped from 21% to 19% within just a few minutes while chatting.

In the battery settings, it shows that apps like CapCut consumed 88% of the battery during 2 hours of screen-on time, and the device lost over 60% charge during that session. This kind of performance is not what I expected from a new device.

Please let me know if this is a known issue with iPadOS 18.3.1 and if any fix is coming soon.

Try updating your iPad to the current version of iPadOS. At the time of writing, iPadOS 18.4.1 is current.

iPadOS 18.3.1 was released 10th February- over two months ago.

As for battery utilisation, you might reasonably anticipate using 1% of your available battery charge for each 5 minutes of usage. CPU/GPU intensive Apps, or high screen brightness, will use more power and consume your battery charge much more quickly.

Many system updates continue to run in the background and consume battery for extended periods of time. How long has it been since you updated to 18.3.1?
