Few new features I’m curious about

With the new update (18.3.2), you can add passcodes to apps and hide apps. It’s been a long time since I had asked questions. So, I’m very curious about these features. However, my main idea will be about passcodes.

”Require Passcode”:

Why do we need to use our passcodes that unlocks our screen? Can’t we use our Guided Access passcode or create our own for extra security reasons? I’m only asking this because it’d be too easy for that person to access our apps once they know about our passcode that unlocks our phone. If there is a case that the person forgot their passcode, there can be a “Forgot passcode?” Option that will allow you to create another one. Can this also apply to “Show Hidden Apps” and “View Hidden Album” too? I bet there are people who also don’t want others to see what they’re hiding.

Hidden apps:

How does it work? How can I hide apps? If it only works for downloaded apps, then why can’t it work for Apple apps? Is there a reason? I just want to know.

Hidden Album:

What’s the purpose of this feature? To safely keep certain photos out of sight? All I know is that I’ll hide a picture and then I find it that it’s gone 3 days after. This is also because my sister goes into my phone. I don’t like it. So please can we use a passcode that doesn’t have to be the one that unlocks our phone?🙏

Thank you for listening!

Apple doesn't say "why" – but it may be because people have trouble remembering a lot of passwords or a lot of passcodes. You can apparently set things up so that most unlocking is with Face ID or Touch ID.

As for how it works, see the above Support article. As for why you can't hide built-in apps, ask Apple. Also note that hiding an app does not make its name / existence completely invisible (as per the Support article).
