How to get past passcode on an iPhone 8 Plus?

Recently a box of items from a family member was given to me, One of those items was an iPhone 8 Plus from a member of our family who is now dead, I wanted to print out some family pictures from the phone to gift back to the family member but the phone has a passcode lock, The phone is running iOS 16.0.3 and it would mean so much to the family if we could get the pictures off the phone, Is there any way to get past the passcode? Thank you.

I am sorry to have to confirm what you likely already know. Without the correct passcode entry, data on the phone cannot be accessed.

If you know that the phone was being backed up.....and if you also know the Apple ID and Apple ID Password of the person who was using the phone, it would be possible to erase the phone and then load the backup onto the phone.

Unfortunately, that's a lot of "if's"
