Why is my MacBook Air update taking more than 24 hours?
The update has been running for more than 24 hours. Is this normal?

No. Normally it should take about 30 mins. Try restarting.

No, this is not normal.
A macOS update or upgrade normally takes maybe 30 minutes, usually much less and never more than an hour.
YMMV and depends partly on network download speed and other factors such as drive health and free drive space.
Your process has hung up for some reason.
