Solution to iPhone not connecting with 5GHz WiFi
Hi,
I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max on the latest IOS and have had persistent inability to connect to my WiFi router’s 5GHz network. My prior iPhone 13 Pro Max was fine with this router / network and my partner’s iPhone 12 and mum’s iPhone all connect perfectly fine. Having read various discussions online I see suggestions that this is a router issue (e.g. channels etc) and there has been push back / denial this is an iPhone related issue. After hours of playing around with various suggestions including router settings etc etc I tried the following:
- Went to the Passwords App on one of the iPhones that connects perfectly fine.
- Selected WiFi and located the relevant 5GHz network.
- Clicked ‘Show Network QR Code’
- Scanned the QR code with the iPhone that would not connect.
Miraculously, the iPhone with the issue connecting then instantly connects and works perfectly fine.
Doesn’t this prove it is an Apple / iPhone issue, rather than a router issuer? Nothing was changed on the router in the process / steps above.
Apple needs to take this issue seriously and investigate it thoroughly as it appears to be their issue not an issue with their customers’ routers and network settings.
Please share your thoughts.
Thank you.
