Is the faint line on iPhone 15 Pro Max volume button normal?

Hello,

I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro Max and recently noticed that my volume up button shows a faint line or reflection when seen from a particular angle. It’s not felt by touch and disappears slightly when I press my finger over it.

The button seems fine otherwise and works perfectly. I just want to know if this is part of the design or something I should worry about.

Has anyone else noticed this or can confirm if their unit also has this visual effect?

So kindly confirm one last thing: Is this line a normal part of the button or body finish and found on other iPhone 15 Pro Max units too?

I can't confirm anything. That would require that I have looked at many other iPhone 15 Pro Max volume buttons. I certainly have not done that. We are ALL users here on this user to user only forum. We don't work for, nor are we associated with Apple in any way. And iPhone 15 Pro Max was discontinued by Apple in September 2024. It's not very likely you bought this phone from Apple within the last 14 days. They literally stopped selling them 8 months ago. I suppose it's possible you bought it from someone else recently and if so, you can ask them about their return window. Or you can just not worry about it as the photo you showed is inconsequential. It won't affect the button's primary function. It won't cause you to lose any trade value when it's time to trade it in. It's hardly noticeable and you even admit you use a case on your phone, so it's not something you'll see when the phone is in its case, which I assume is pretty much 100% of the time.

It’s part of the design, won’t impact functionality of the device, and if you look closely, you’ll see the other three.

A case didn’t make those lines. They’re built into the device itself. If you run over them with your fingernail you can feel them, and they certainly don’t disappear when rubbing them.

"If this line is caused by the case, then why is it not present on the volume down button or the power button? Also, the line disappears when I touch it with my finger — which makes me think it’s just a reflection. My phone is almost brand new, with only 16 battery cycles, so it hasn’t even been used much, and the case hasn’t been on for long either. Just trying to understand if this is normal or not."
