What are these 'Console' messages under 'Log Reports' in Finder?

Found this on my screen after I checked in first time this morning. What is it? Is it an Apple product? Are unknown actors messing with my system?

Yes it is an Apple app found in your Utilities folder and installed on every Mac. It may be set to launch on startup at  > System Settings > General > Login & Extensions > Open at Login or if someone else knows your login, they could have opened it. There is nothing of value in any of the logs to be concerned about when it comes to personal information.

Console is a list of log reports that the system generates automatically and Terminal is a low level command interface to make changes to your System.

The log reports seen in Console have little use other than for the Developer/Engineer where they instructed the computer to produce a log at a certain time. If you have an issue with your computer and open a Support Ticket with Apple, they may request a certain log that they can use to assist with a resolution. They use special decoding software to make sense of them and also compare them to known signatures where similar issues have been reported.

Terminal is powerful, but also dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Entire folders can be removed from your computer with a mistype of a single character and can result in your computer not being able to start up. There are no guard rails that will stop you from doing something catastrophic.

Thanks again for the reassurance. And for the explanation. I used a terminal many years ago trying to get a Linux configuration that would work for me. But I was always following very explicit directions. I'm a non-coding Vim user and am somewhat intimidated by people in that community who seem to work in terminal as a do-all operating system. I don't think I'll go there. I have no need. After all, I'm an amateur.
