How much storage and which model to choose for iPhone 16, and how to cancel free trials?

I want to get iPhone 16 pro, black titanium some time in the future, so I have a few questions about it:

  1. how much storage do I need? if you need specifics you can ask me,
  2. Pro or pro max?
  3. How do I cancel the free trials that come with it?

No way to know. How much do you use currently on your current device? If you take a lot of pictures and record a lot of videos and have a lot of apps, you may want the higher end storage. Otherwise, it depends on your usage. Hard to say without any other specific use cases for it.

for most people 512GB should be plenty. If you are frugal and careful with storage you can go for 256GB. If you are an app hoarder you'll want 1 or 2TB.

But, then you have to consider your budget. Just know, that the storage space can not be altered in any way after purchase. You have what you choose forever. Get as much as you can afford as a rule of thumb.

2. Pro or pro max?

You want the larger screen or the smaller screen? That's basically all the difference between them.

3. How do I cancel the free trials that come with it?

No active free trials come with it. You need to actually activate them yourself if you want them.

You cancel them from the Subscriptions listing in the Settings App.

  1. It depends on how much data you currently occupy. On your current iPhone, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and see how much you are occupying. You will want to buy more storage than you currently have and as much as you can afford as you will only accumulate more storage as time goes on, not less. Apps are also getting bigger. You don't want to run out of storage and have to upgrade your iPhone again as storage cannot be increased after.
  2. Depends on you. The difference between the Pro and Pro Max is screen size and battery. I have the 16 Pro Max and love the largest screen size, it makes everything easy and clear to read. The battery is also phenomenal and lasts longer than a day. If those appeal to you, get the Pro Max. But again it's up to you.
  3. The trials you are offered for Apple Services when you purchase the new iPhone are not mandatory. You don't have to claim them. If you don't they will eventually expire and you won't be charged.

• Thank you, Zachyy, Servant of Cats and Phil0124. You were very helpful, I have 32GB of space on my iPhone, but only 4GB left. Thanks for the help on the model type, specifically Zachyy, I think I will go with the Pro Max, I am glad the free trials are not automatically started because that would be a waste of the trial and possibly a big distraction. Here is what I use my phone storage for:
Video recording, I like to make and edit movies.
• iCloud storage, that is how I get documents to and from my computer.
• iMovie, I edit the visual on my phone because it has a GPU.
• shortcuts, I like to code so shortcuts is a great app for me.
I think that is it, besides all the other apps I have. Thanks in advance!

Wow, 32 GB is a blast from the past. I will suggest to you 512 GB, which is 16x your current storage. Video editing can take up quite a bit, especially movies at high quality. Enjoy your brand new iPhone when it arrives.

If you planning on recording 4K video, then definitely no less than 512GB.

The iPhone 16 models also have the benefit of being able to record high quality ProRes video out to external drives directly, so the large amounts of internal storage are not quite as important.

Thanks, so you don’t think I will run out of space on it for a long time? Because I am not planning on getting another iPhone for a decade or so.

If you’re going to use the iPhone that long, I’m going to have to suggest you purchase more storage. I would hate for you to run out of storage and since it’s not increasable, have to purchase another new iPhone! I was reading an article earlier today which said when you purchase an iPhone, buy the very best one and use it for ultimately as long as you can. If you have to hesitate about iPhone storage, then that usually is a sign to increase. You will want to have ample storage so you don’t worry about it. It will still be cheaper than the 16 Pro Max.

So you are saying that a iPhone 16 pro with 1 TB is cheaper then a iPhone 16 pro max with 561 GB? I am just trying to understand.

Yes.

iPhone 16 Pro with 512 Gb would be $1,299. 1 TB would be $1,499.

iPhone 16 Pro Max 512 Gb would be $1,399. 1 TB would be $1,599.

But I think you should do fine with 512 GB, considering that you are living on 32 GB which in today’s life really isn’t sufficient. I meant to include that in my previous post.

Yes, I agree, iPhone SE 1st generation is old.

So if I go with your suggestion my total bill is $1,762.15 which is a hefty price tag, compared to what I originally thought; $1,051.95 for the Pro 265GB one. Don’t get me wrong, I am very great full to all of you, thanks I appreciate it a lot. Thanks for your time!

The iPhone 16 Pro with 256 GB is still an excellent choice, and it will be a massive upgrade and 8x storage over your iPhone SE. You will love it. You are very welcome and it’s always great to see you here in the community!
