Hard drive showing up in disk utility but not in finder

I just got a new Mac and I’m trying to load the backup from my old one that I have on an external drive. The problem is, my drive shows up in disk utility, but not in Finder locations, so I can’t access anything. Yes it’s formatted properly, I’ve used it before and have data on it. I’ve also run first aid on it and nothing happened. Help!

Mount the Drive:

Do you see a Mount button on the top-right corner of the Disk Utility menu? If so, select the drive, and then click "Mount".

you do not mention Finder Settings(?)

verify you have the caret spun open, move your mouse to the right side...
