How to resolve slow performance, update issues on Mac and iPad Pro?
My Mac has been slow for a while now. I decided to start exploring to fix this. I downloaded the clean my Mac app and deleted the recommended caches and cleaned up my download folder etc. Some background, I have used 453.8 GB of 1.03 TB. When I review the monitor activity memory used is 4.96 and physical memory is 8GB. Cache files are 3.6 GB, which surprises me since earlier today I supposedly clean my cache with the clean my Mac app. My Mac is pretty much unusable. I can’t get the latest apple update to process. It can literally take 10 minutes for word to open if it opens at all. I have been trying for days now to clean my computer but it’s painful to do anything on it. The my clean my Mac app did not detect any malware. When I check CPU, the percentages are fluctuating but nothing crazy. I don’t know if this means anything but the idle if over 90%. When I review storage, I did the recommend to optimize photos to free space a couple of days ago, my documents are over 178 GB and when I dive in further the file browser states pictures are 404 GB, movies 77 GB , downloads 20.3 GB, MUSIC 13 GB, documents 9 GB ETC. This makes sense as my photos and videos consume most of my computer. When I look at the Photos app and storage it states 40.36 GB- I assume that is because I am optimizing the photos with iCloud. I am at a loss what I can do to get my Mac working. Any suggestions?
As far as my iPad Pro- I don’t use it much. I knew there was an update so I went to process the update manually as I just charged up the iPad. It keeps giving the message can’t check for update- try again. I googled and again for days now and not getting anywhere. In both cases I have shut down and restarted repeatedly and emptied my trash. iPad storage- I am using 51 GB out of 128 GB. I have gone through things and off loaded apps I don’t use. Oh also, there are some apps that have open but none of my data is there and I am logged in. Also, I can not add download apps onto my iPad. Any assistance or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I am doing the trial on the clean my Mac app but since it doesn’t seem to be doing any but using space I will not subscribe further.

My iPhone thankfully is working fine and I was able to process the update.
