Can I secretly opt out of Find My location on my iPhone without alerting others?

A relative wants to track my location. I feel it’s a violation of my privacy. I want to opt in just to humour them but then secretly opt out without them knowing. Can I achieve this? Or when I’m not where I say I am is there a way to turn it off without alerting them then turning back on once I feel I want them to know where I am?
