CarPlay won't read messsges on a Honda CR-V 2026

Using iPhone 15 pro with iOS 18.5 in my new 2026 Honda CR-V

(Wireless) CarPlay will begin to read a message and then fade out after a few words. Anyone having that problem?

My other iPhone (7 IOS 15.7) works fine wirelessly in the same car.

Based on a suggestion from someone in this thread, i bought a Wireless Car Play adapter from Amazon

plugged it in and connected it to the CRV. only had 1 glitch on a phone call, but messaging, music, Siri, Waze all seem to work flawlessly. For a solution under $40, I can now wait for either Honda or Apple (or both) to get their collective dookie together and actually test their software before releasing it on unsuspecting buyers. Long gone are the days when professional programmers actually tested their code before release. (yeah, i'm old school like that)

It’s frustrating because it’s not the same as the 2024 CR-V and I now have the 2026 CR-V, but if you read my earlier post it even says the same thing in the car manual “press” the hands free icon on your steering wheel to turn Siri on and off. Respectfully stated, I believe the premise is more for our safety versus our frustration. Someone else mentioned stricter laws etc. If I press the hands free button and say, text “Joe” Siri will reply. If I press the hands free button and say, “read unread text messages” Siri reads my texts with no problems. I do believe there is a volume control for how loud Siri can be. I’m not exactly sure that it’s something that needs to be fixed versus something we must do differently. Change is never easy. Thank you for reading.

I experienced the same issues, however when you’re finally connected to CarPlay, you can use the hands free button on the left side of your steering wheel and when you press it you can then say, text or call [insert name] and it works fine. You can then also ask read text message and this seemed to be a solution. It’s not the same as the 2024 version, but it does seem to work. There are many different settings to work through so check sound and Siri settings. Hope this helps.

I got mine on Amazon and it does work, but I am still annoyed, frustrated, and upset about the whole issue. I have received zero support from my dealership and NO official acknowledgement from Honda.

I hope you can follow this link. (Technology is not my forte…which makes the whole issue even more annoying 😝😝) Good luck!

Also having this issue. Bought a 2026 CRV Sport-L today. On the drive home, I attempted multiple times to send & hear dictated texts via Apple CarPlay. Every time, Siri said about two words, stopped mid-sentence, and the screen froze for a couple seconds before returning to the text menu. Planning to take it to the dealership this week to get it looked at.

I am having the same issue with my brand new 2026 Trailsport CRV and my Iphone14. I contacted my dealer AND American Honda tech support but neither provided a satisfactory solution. It sure is disappointing to spend over $40,000 on a vehicle and not be able to use all of the features. I was NOT told about the problem when I purchased the car. I am feeling ripped off…sure hope the problem is fixed soon! I am not able to send or receive texts, or search for a destination using SIRI while the car is moving.
