Drum Synth kick generator is inconsistent and bugged [video example]

There appears to be an issue with the kick generator in Drum Synth that I believe is related to key tracking being enabled and active track selection focus (i.e., whether the track is actively selected or not). Bouncing to audio does not fix the issue. The bugged audio also registers louder (1-2dB increase).

I am using the Air Kick setting with mono trigger and keytrack on, which goes through a distortion plugin. That's it. The distortion really brings out how inconsistent the drum hits are. The only way to make it sound like it should is if the track is actively selected.

Turning the keytracking off seems to eliminate the issue, but you're still out of luck because Drum Synth's pitch knob actually seems to transpose in such a way that degrades the sound.

Hi Eddie,

I'm using 11.2.2 but I was experiencing this since 11.0.1

Copy these settings below and ensure that another track is selected before pressing play. The only plugin on Drum Synth is Chromaglow. The kick hits are on D#1. Compare the audio you hear when Drum Synth is selected versus when it is not. I've performed bounce-to-audio invert phase tests to prove that the audio isn't the same.

The weird thing is that the stutters/glitches happen at different timestamps per project file. The one in my video in the original post has a flam/stutter on the first note but your results may vary.

Edwin,

Make sure to notify Apple right away... this could be extremely valuable. It's the most effective method to catch the attention of the Logic Pro team.

Submit Feedback to Apple:

Report your issues to Apple. Fixes may not be implemented until they are reported. These forums are user-to-user platforms, and Apple’s involvement is limited to their own schedule. While Apple may not respond directly, the more feedback received, the better understanding they gain of existing issues and potential updates for future versions. Without reporting your concerns, Apple will not be aware of them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - Logic Pro - Apple
  2. Feedback Type: “Broken feature/Report a problem”
  3. Comment: Please provide a detailed description of the issue you encountered and the troubleshooting steps you have attempted thus far. Include the URL of this thread for reference.

What version of Logic Pro are you on?

Version 11.2.2 seems to be working just fine. I tried out that specific preset and it doesn't really have a tonal quality to it, so what other plugins are you using on the channel strip?

Also, is it possible that you are using another preset but the "Air Kick" name stayed the same?

Are you sure that your shape knob has not been tampered with? Can you check that?

Can you check your automation? (region and track automation)
